I have always been a kind, non judgemental, neutral, and listening ear to whoever I meet. My career has allowed me to work each day doing what I am passionate about; creating a space and time for communication of thoughts. Life is fast paced and we don’t always get the time or luxury to dedicate time for ourselves to share what’s on our minds, heal, and grow. I feel honored to work each day helping clients gain awareness of barriers that are preventing them from becoming their best self. I introduce and practice coping strategies with my clients to help them break down those barriers in an individualized approach as unique as the client themselves.

I draw on evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Informed Care, while incorporating other approaches such as Mindfulness, Choice Theory, and Attachment Theory. This eclectic approach allows clients the opportunity to bring about their own self-awareness of what is truly important to them.

Building off of the innate strengths they already have to set goals, become more hopeful, and grow as an individual instead of comparing to others. I draw on a solution-focused approach that allows me to tailor sessions to each client’s unique needs and goals in therapy.

As a counselor-in-training, I believe in creating a safe, supportive space where people feel comfortable being themselves. I see each person as the expert in their own life and work to build a trusting, respectful relationship. My goal is to help clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes. I use a mix of approaches based on each person’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to work on thoughts and behaviors, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build skills for managing emotions. I also use Solution-Focused and Narrative techniques to explore strengths and life stories. At the core of my work is a person-centered approach, where empathy, care, and acceptance guide every session.

Experience:

I have over seven years of experience in healthcare, with a strong background in care management and supporting individuals with mental health needs, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and diverse abilities. My work has focused on person-centered care, effective communication, and advocating for inclusive, accessible support. As a bilingual professional fluent in Korean and English, I value cultural humility and strive to build meaningful, respectful relationships with people from all backgrounds. I’m passionate about empowering individuals and embracing diversity in every aspect of my work.

Therapeutic Approach:

My therapeutic approach includes a variety of evidence-based techniques, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and a multitude of
mindfulness-based practices/coping strategies. My focus is to provide clients genuine support and empathy while also equipping them with tools and psychoeducation in order for them to build self-sufficiency and challenge maladaptive thought patterns. That being said, there is always more to learn and I will continue to keep myself well educated on new and developing counseling methods so that I can provide the best therapy services possible to my clients.
